When
Dr. Iris de Rode, a historian and researcher working for the Mount Vernon Foundation in Washington, and who specializes in French participation and involvement during the American Revolution, will be giving a talk about eighteenth-century French author and political figure François-Jean de Chastellux and will focus on Chastellux's correspondence with George Washington and Benjamin Franklin. This talk is part of a larger program by Dr. Bertrand Van Ruymbeke, a professor of American Civilization at the University of Paris 8 and his AMERICA 2026 project (American, Europe, Revolutions, Independence and Commemorations in the Atlantic Space 1776-2026). This event is sponsored by the French embassy in Washington D.C. as part of a program commemorating the upcoming 250th anniversary of the American Revolution.
